How much do I need to bowl in the nets to prepare for a 4 day match?
This is a good question and quite unique to the bowler. “Loads” are unique to the type of bowler that you are. You won’t see tearaway quicks bowling super long spells whereas a medium pace, swing bowler will bowl long spells.
My advice to you would be to build up your bowling loads incrementally. You can start with a 4 over spell, then the following week 6, then the following 8 etc.
From our interviews, we’ve noticed that a lot of professionals monitor their bowling and running loads. If they’ve bowled a lot in a game, they won’t bowl a lot in practice. If they haven’t bowled a lot in practice, they will build up their bowling and running loads to be ready for championship games.
