The Journey From Medium Pace to 145kph and England Lions Recognition – Henry Brookes

In this episode, we speak to Warwickshire CCC and England Lions fast bowler, Henry Brookes.

Standing at over 6ft, Henry has been hailed as a potential superstar by the managing director of the ECB, Ashley Giles and he’s already lived up to the hype and shown great promise in his early career so far.

At the time of this interview, Henry was 19 years old and he had already made his mark in English County Cricket by hitting high speeds whilst displaying world-class skill with the ball. He’s been regularly clocked at the 145kph mark and has been the go-to bowler for Warwickshire at the start and back end of an innings.

Henry has previously been selected in the England Lions squad, but reoccurring back injuries have forced him to sit out.

We go down memory lane where Henry describes life as a ‘medium pacer’, how he came back from a serious back injury and what sort of technical work he is currently doing to increase his speed.

We also speak in-depth about mindset, gym training for a young bowler and what goes into mastering the art of the yorker – something that Henry is building a formidable reputation for.

No one masters the art of bowling. There is always work to be done.
